Scouting is a worldwide voluntary movement and its motto is 'Be Prepared for the service of mankind and the protection of natural way. Mahindra World School takes pride in involving the students in Scouting activities for grades VI and above. The Scouts and Guides wing is extended this academic year (2022-23), and our primary children of grades IV and V are also involved in Scouting activities under the Cubs and Bulbuls category. Various activities and training were conducted for the cubs and bulbuls every working Saturday in order to develop important life skills, positive character traits, and a sense of responsibility and service to others.

Scouts and Guides training for grades VI to IX are conducted every Friday between 3 pm to 4 pm. On working Saturdays, fun-filled activities along with Scouts and Guides training are conducted for grades IV and V to enhance their overall development and behaviour. In-house training includes the history of the movement, songs and anthems, knot craft, first-aid, mapping, march past, sports activities, and more.

Following are the accomplishments of our Scouts and Guides during the academic year 2022-23:
Fifty-four students from grades VIII and IX cleared Tritiya Sopan district level examination by attending Tritiya Sopan One-day Testing Camp on 17th November conducted at SRM PUBLIC SCHOOL, Guduvancheri, Nandhivaram, Tamil Nadu-603202.
Fourteen students from grades VIII and IX completed attended North Zone Camporee 2022-23 (3-day camp - 27th January to 29th January) conducted at Dr. MGR State Training Centre, Alathur, Chengalpet- 603110 and won 2nd prize in Colour Party Event and 2nd prize in March Past Parade event.

Fifteen students from grades VIII and IX attended Rajya Puraskar state-level  examination by attending Test Camps(7th February, 16th -17th February)  conducted at Dr. MGR State Training Centre, Alathur, Chengalpet- 603110 Eleven of our students from the Cubs and Bulbuls category represented our  school in the State Level Cubs and Bulbuls Competition held on 22nd  February at Tamil Nadu Bharat Scouts and Guides State Headquarters,  Wenlock Park, Chennai.

The TED-Ed Student Talks program provides a free curriculum that supports students in identifying, developing and sharing their ideas in the form of short, TED-style talks. This curriculum is used in over 130 countries by educators in classrooms, schools, extra-curricular settings and educational organizations.

The TED ED Club MWS was launched in the month of April 2022. This illustrious idea was initiated by our former Principal Ms. Suganthi Medasani and was brought into action in the year 2022-23 year under the leadership and guidance of our Principal, Dr. Meadows B.

This program enabled the students to become a part of a network of thousands of groups in schools and educational organisations around the world, all working to spark and celebrate the ideas of students.

MWS Library has a good collection of books, dictionaries, magazines, and newspapers that quench the thirst for knowledge. Using Book Magic software, all the books have been catalogued and We have more than 8300 books, 40+ magazines, and 5 newspapers in our collection. The aim of reading a story is to impart knowledge, not only of facts but also of values. Children in primary classes are told stories with good morals, and they participate in an interactive lesson that includes quizzes, puzzles, and story-building. Students are encouraged to share stories they have written or read and are given worksheets and tasks to help them develop their reading and writing abilities. Some of the tasks include drawing their favourite character, writing book spine poetry, developing stories, and so on. Once a week, books are checked in and out. Every year, library week is held and different activities such as storytelling by senior teachers, drop everything and read, no television day, reading with family, and reading week and day are held in the month of June. We want to make sure that students consider library to be a vital part of their lifelong learning.
